Get a Second Chance
Video Transcript: Okay. So we’ve talked about a Section 18 expungement. What’s a Section 991 (c) expungement in Oklahoma? Hi, I’m Ty Smith, OKC attorney with Wirth Law Office. And this one’s going to be a bit quicker because Section 991 (c)s are a bit easier to describe.
Also, generally they’re a lot easier to obtain, but not as excessive. Remember I said in the Section 18 video that Section 18 has the widest berth of cleaning or wiping the slate clean. 991 (c)s are easier to get, but they’re not as expansive in their scope.
It’s applicable for anyone who has received a deferred sentence to get that wiped from the record, meaning the public can’t see it. And their plea of guilty, if they did plead guilty, which you will have pled guilty, is going to be changed. The disposition online will be changed to pled not guilty, case dismissed. Won’t expunge the arrest record, which is from public record, so you’ll still have an arrest record in public record, but it’s better than nothing.
So if you have any questions about potentially obtaining an expungement, I would love to walk you through that process. Once more, I’m Ty Smith, an expungement lawyer in Oklahoma. You can find me at theoklahomacityattorney.com, or you can call my office at (405) 888-5400.
